How We Met
We met Memorial Day weekend (Saturday, May 29th) in 2004. I came into town for the holiday weekend and to attend the wedding of a college friend. I met up with some friends at Kristi's apartment to go out that night. That is where I met Rob. Kari, Kristi, Rob, Cory, and I went out to TGI Friday's at Fourth Street Live for some drinks and then continued on to Ol' Malley's. I had always heard my best friend, Gigi, speak of a guy named Rob and how he was so much fun, but until that night I hadn't met him. We talked a lot that night; however when I was trying to fix him up with a friend, he wanted to talk to me. That Sunday, Rob went to Kristi to ask about me and get my phone number. Kristi called me and asked if it was ok to give it to him. I said sure but asked if he realized I lived in St. Louis. Rob called me the next Thursday in June.

How It Happened
I came into town to celebrate Rob's birthday weekend. Rob and I had planned on going to dinner at the Rock Wall in Floyds Knobs. We drove up to Floyds Knobs the long way to go around a bad traffic jam. He drove off to a look-out point off Skyline Drive. The sun was starting to set. I was looking off at the view - you can see Louisville on a clear day. I turned to look at Rob and I could tell something was on his mind. He reached in his coat pocket (we still had our seatbelts and coats on) and brought out a box, which he opened, but I could not look. He said some nice things and then asked me to marry me. In traditional crazy Melissa-ness I said "OhMyGosh, Are you sure?" Which I could see wasn't exactly what he was expecting and then I said yes! Ha! It was perfect! We then continued on to the Rock Wall and had a wonderful meal.
